Selecting

https://www.facebook.com/events/1715318365383624/

The Selecta! party version of the popular music session from Relevant Records is happening this Friday 1st July at the Blue Moon on Norfolk Street, Cambridge from 10pm onwards. It's free to get in. They've asked me to join them playing some records (presumably why they include 'afro' in the spiel). So yeah, I'll probably be playing some african records if that's your bag (and some other stuff too). It'll be groovy - so there's no point staying in and being bored on a Friday night. Andy Barlow, Crump and Le Jazz are hosting so crazy visuals from Andy and great music from all three - recommended session...

Garage Groove

The roving reporters here in the Village strive to keep you up to date with the latest "buenos discos" from around the www. Thanks to Crump for this info:

Lenny Fontana Presents The Second Anniversary at Paradise Garage Night Club “The Live Broadcast” penned now as Radio Gold Dust. It originally aired on 107.5 WBLS FM New York with the legendary MC/DJ Frankie Crocker and mix courtesy of DJ Larry Levan back in 1979. This was a groundbreaking moment in dance music history that this club had made there special anniversary live on the radio. There will be interviews from Tom Moulton, John Morales, Vince Aletti, Judy Weinstein (For The Record) as well a live performance from that night of Dan Hartman and Loletta Holloway not heard since the night of the airing almost 32 years ago. The airing of these lost tapes will happen on BBC Radio 6 for a special six hour event. As well Lenny will be doing the Essential Mix on Friday night BBC Radio 1that month so stay tuned for the exact airing of the dates in May 2011.
